Dentistry in the UK has witnessed significant change over the last 20 years. There has been an increasing amount of legislation and accountability within the profession to meet the demands of the authoritative bodies such as the GDC and CQC.

Graduates from the UK are privileged to be exposed to a mandatory 12 month period of Foundation Training in Primary care. Here the trainees will learn about the skills in general practice and be introduced to mandatory study days which involves a curriculum allowing them to implement skills to mitigate risk.

There is no support programme that has been set up until now!

Risk is inherent in everything we do, however in the UK, minimising risk is key to practicing successfully. Often poor communication and a lack of understanding of UK Dentistry is often cited as one of the main reasons why overseas colleagues find themselves in trouble with the law.

Mercury Dental was set up as it identified an increasing need to support dental colleagues from overseas wishing to work here in the dental profession in the UK. Very few are fortunate to experience Foundation Training such as UK graduates.
Whether you begin your journey as a dental nurse or a dental therapist whilst preparing for the ORE or LDS registration exam with the GDC, or you are awaiting your registration with the GDC to commence practising as a dentist, this programme is essential for you.

Who Are We?

Our host, Dr. Shaam Shamsi, brings to the table nearly 30 years of profound experience as a dental surgeon and educator in the UK. His expertise and dedication to dental education have shaped the modular components of our programme, ensuring a curriculum that is both comprehensive and deeply insightful.

We are also thrilled to feature our esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Raj Rattan, a General Dental Practitioner with almost 40 years of experience in the field. Renowned for his role as Director for Dental Protection and as the author of numerous books, Dr. Rattan brings a wealth of knowledge and dento-legal expertise to our courses.
